About ABA therapy

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) uses scientific principles to teach skills and change behavior. It reinforces positive behaviors and reduces challenging ones, especially for people with autism. A personal plan and steady progress checks help build skills and improve quality of life.

What happens in ABA therapy?

We break complex skills into small, manageable steps and teach them with positive reinforcement. The therapist works with your child one-on-one, often in a structured setting, on skills like communication, social interaction and self-care.

What behaviors can ABA therapy help with?

ABA can help with challenging behaviors such as self-injury, aggression, tantrums and not following directions. It also teaches new skills, like communication, social skills and self-care, that can replace challenging behaviors.

How do I know if ABA therapy is right for my child?

ABA can work very well for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, but it is not the right fit for everyone. Our team can do a full evaluation to see if ABA is the right option for your child.

What if my child does not respond well to ABA therapy?

Our team will work with you to look at other treatment options and build a new plan that meets your child's needs.

What qualifications do your therapists have?

Our therapists are trained in ABA techniques. All of them hold an active certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Your child's therapy

What should I expect at my child's first session?

The first session is a starting point. It is a time to learn how therapy works, help your child feel comfortable and set the stage for the sessions ahead.

How often will my child have ABA therapy?

It depends on your child's needs. Most children have 10 to 30 hours a week. We adjust this as your child makes progress and as the therapist recommends.

How long does ABA therapy take?

It depends on your child. Some children need a few months of therapy, and others need several years. The therapist works with you on a treatment plan that fits your child's needs.

Can my child go to school during ABA therapy?

Yes. Many children benefit from ABA both at home and at school. We can work with teachers and school staff on a plan for your child's needs. Therapy can help with social skills, communication and behavior, so your child can take part more fully in school.

How involved should I be in my child's ABA therapy?

The therapist leads the sessions, but your active part makes therapy work better, during sessions and between them. Your support and consistency play a big role in your child's progress.

Will my insurance cover ABA therapy?

Many insurance plans now cover ABA therapy, but coverage depends on your plan. Our team can check your coverage and help you through the insurance process. Insurance list coming soon.
